About Kids Layne

kkcookingKaren Kardian

A mom to three, Karen had never shopped for upscale children’s clothing until she started dressing her twins 5 years ago and found that prices were high and clothing two at once was an expensive proposition. The addition of Jack to the family two years later reinforced her belief that a market existed for high end consigned clothing.

Karen brings over 15 years of marketing and advertising experience to Kids Layne. Karen hopes to generate loyalty with Kids Layne shoppers and consignors by providing strong customer service and a great selection of upscale children’s items.

Karen could not be a mother to 3 and a small business owner, without the support of Chris and the addition of Jennifer to the Kids Layne team.

Jennifer is self- proclaimed CEO of the Kaufman household and is mom to twins Elizabeth and Gardner and wife to Wes.  Jennifer graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a BS in Business and from VA Tech with an MBA.  She spent 10 years  as a merchant with Circuit City Stores and then moved to the non profit sector and worked with Family Lifeline, a human services agency, in Marketing and Program Management.

When she heard about Karen’s idea to start an overstock & consignment business for high-end, boutique children’s items, she just couldn’t stay out of it!  The concept capitalizes on Jennifer’s love for retail, marketing, beautiful clothes, GOOD DEALS and of course her children!  She is so excited that Karen allowed her to become her partner so that Kids Layne can bring all of these adorable children’s clothes at such great prices to market.

In addition, Jennifer’s first child, Anna Yeatts, was born April 30, 2006 and died May 6, 2006 at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC.  In memory of  Anna, Kids Layne donates a portion of their profits to local Children’s Hospitals in every sale city.
